KETTLEBELLS

Filed Under Exercise · Tagged:

I recently added a kettlebell class in addition to the boot camp classes I run. Kettlebells are excellent to have in your fitness “tool-box”. If you think they are just a fad, too dangerous and hard core, or no different than a dumbbell, you might want to rethink that! Women love kettlebell training because exercises like the basic swing work the hips, thighs and glutes like you wouldn’t believe!

The fact that you now see kettlebells more and more in mainstream retailers and sporting goods stores should be evidence that it is a legitimate piece of exercise equipment. Best of all, if working out at home or in a park is your thing, or you just want a break from the gym, they take up extremely little space in your house, and you can toss them in your car and drive to your nearest park for an outdoor workout.

Kettlebell training provides a total body strength workout and high intensity interval training for cardio for fat loss… in one. Often when people see kettlebells for the first time, they think of them only in terms of strength training. Ask anyone who has experienced doing a minute of kettlebell swings if their heart rate goes up and I will guarantee the answer is YES!

Most of the kettlebell exercises are full-body movements. Even with some of the more isolated kettlebell exercises like military presses, when you increase the intensity and combine them with full-body kettlebell exercises you will get winded. Think about this superset: 30 seconds of 1-arm swings, clean and press 30 seconds, pull swings for 30 seconds, kettlebell front squat 30 seconds and then switch sides. The kettlebell has never left the ground and your body has not stopped moving for 4 minutes straight. The kettlebell and the kettlebell training really deliver!

Be well,

Lauren

It’s exciting to learn more ways to get great results in maintaining good health for a better quality of life and there are no worries here if you can’t make it to the gym. I have learned from Lauren that all of this can be done at home.
I met Lauren over 3 years ago. I had other personal trainers in the past and for whatever reason the experience did not make an impact on me. For over 20 years i could not lose weight and keep it off or understood how to build muscle and strength.
My good luck on meeting Lauren has kept me motivated and successful in my goals, not to forget that i lost 30lbs and have kept it off, went from a size 12 to a size 4, as well as given me the desire to pursue new goals, which are now a lifestyle i love and that’s an important part of what life is about for me.
Also, i have experienced that it is the best stress relief from life’s crazy changes that we have no control over. You cannot compare the gratification of going off medications and staying off, due to making changes in diet and exercising which i have and i thank Lauren for helping me make that happen. It’s been her encouragement to step it up and not be afraid to, that made a big difference in my improvement altogether.
She always made it fun before and is doing it again.
Now I am back with her in her bootcamp. Once again i am totally enjoying it because of her knowledge and experience and have started her kettlebell class as well which is very exciting. Her kettlebell ebook material she gave for homework after the first class, helped guide you through your home workout and i am already feeling the results of that. I had no idea of how effective working with kettlebells could be. I would not have done this on my own. It has to be done with someone who knows what they are doing correctly and she does.
This is probably the best thing i have ever done for myself and everyone in my life is benefiting since i am happier and feel well and strong. I have more energy now than i have had in to many years to count. My physician has told me he has not seen me like this since i was going off to college. I am now in my early 50’s.
I could only wish this for others and i am totally enjoying being the best example i can be for my family and especially for my daughter.
Lauren has been one of the best role models for me and she totally lives by example and practices what she teaches others.

Had no idea that working with kettlebells could be so effective.
    Totally enjoying the workout.

Today’s kettlebell class was the best and not only did i feel the intensity of the total body workout, I felt the stress from life in general calming down after the workout. Not to mention that during the workout you have to be so focused that you don’t think about the concerns of the day, which means a great deal in my health and stress management. I know i will sleep well tonight!
I now understand that if your goals are cardio and or strength training that you can do it all with kettlebells.
I also enjoy working out with others who are working just as hard to get all they can out of this class.
Once again, Lauren’s knowledge and instruction gives you the confidence to do it correctly during the class and on your own as well. I feel very grateful for this experience.
