Ellen, thanks for the update. I am glad you let everyone know. When you create habits such as this you will well afford a holiday meal without guilt. Just remember, it's one meal... relax, enjoy friends and family and being in the moment with them. When you return to your routine, you are back on track... your healthy lifestyle!

Just checking in after week 1. Excellent week and I have the Challenge to thank for that. It kept me honest. I worked out every day -- while 20 minutes was the minimum for those days that I have slipped in the past, I found that once I started, I blew by 20 minutes with no problem. It was knowing that I had to get in at least 20 minutes that kick started me. Writing down my food was not as hard as I thought it was going to be and it made me really think about what I was eating or what I was going to be eating (going out for dinner meant a lighter breakfast and lunch so I could hit my numbers.) I'm feeling good about it all. I know that the 4th is going to be somewhat of a hazard, but at least I know I can get a workout in and I can watch what I eat, even if I don't write it down.
Thanks.

This weekend I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go for the 30 days in two ways. 1) Exercise at least 20 minutes a day. I have a decent schedule of kettle bells and cardio but I slip and in the last month I've slipped more than I should. Knowing I want to keep the streak going, I've committed to a minimum of 20 minutes of something for the next 30 days. I know most days I'll do 40 or 60 minutes, but it's those days when I've been doing nothing that I want to take care of. 2) To write down what I eat using spark.com. And I mean write it all down at least 4 days a week (once I get that down, I'll expand to 5 days, etc.) So there it is. I'm making Sunday my start day and so far, so good.

I tagged along with Lauren on Tuesday. My pace was quite a bit slower than hers but I did go up and down 5X and I felt great. I was very tired today and a little sore but I am ready to do it again on Thursday and will accompany her any Tuesday/Thursday that I can!

Great Terry, I look forward to hearing about your progress. Make sure you put in your calendar or appointment book or whatever you use, then highlight it or put gold stars or something... so that you see your success. It's a small thing, but when all 12 "spot-lighted" days are seen at the end of the month, you'll feel really good about yourself because you'll have accomplished your goal.

Hi, Lauren!
Great idea! I have just started back with Jazzercise. Schedule got really intense and I had to quit about a year ago. Bad choice! My fitness level has dropped dramatically. Now my goal is to get to the classes at least 3X a week, regardless of how tired I may be feeling after work (my best exercise time is in the morning but this is not possible right now). It will help to have some accountability!

accountability is so important.. awesome Lauren. I shall join you in your hill running 3 times a week. I usually shoot for 10 rounds... i live on a great cul-de-sac that I do this drill that I have a good incline... however... I find myself not doing it as much as I would like to... I love this challenge.. definitly NO EXCUSES from my end either, especially since all I have to do is walk out my front door... and I can't even count how many times a day I do that...especially it being summer and running the kids around.. LOL!
