Motivation: Create it… Don’t Wait for it

Why do so many people wait for motivation to just fall on their lap?
Do you have a game plan when it comes to making healthy choices for
your body that you will always be inspired to take action on?
Whether it’s to break out of a sedentary life, make better food
choices, run in a marathon, or complete a certain number of
body-weight pull-ups, it’s what is driving you to stay on your plan
that will move you forward.
Most of us try to move forward without any kind of a game plan, you
just wake up one morning and you feel fat, have no energy, your
clothes don’t fit and you realize you need to do something. You may
start walking or try to cut out some junk food and hope it all
works out.
Health is not simply the absence of sickness. Have a better
definition of what health is to you… make it quantifiable… not just
lose weight and tone up.
Mark down on your calendar when you are going to workout, grocery
shop, and prepare meals. Do not leave your life to chance. Write
everything down until it is a pattern and habit.
You probably don’t need to write down when to brush your teeth or
when get dressed, because it’s already a habit! Put your life on
paper until regular exercise and healthy nutrition become habits in
the same way as brushing your teeth and getting dressed for the
day.
Find out how you are wasting time and fill in the gaps. Do the
steps to realize your goal until they become the fabric of your
life. Act like you have an assistant dragging you around, and
telling you, “it’s time to go workout”. It is normal that obstacles
come about, but you at least need a blueprint, a map, or even a
plan B.
Once you do find your plan, stay committed. Consistently do the
thing you said you would do long after the feeling you said it in
has passed.
Most people think their fitness or nutrition plan isn’t working
when they are not getting the results they want. They think they
need to try something else. Usually what is really needed to
change is a better plan for staying on it, a better strategy for
making the time or writing it down in your planner.
As a human race we are goal-seeking devices. We like a challenge.
When the things in your life that are most important to you, are
aligned with your goals… and you can see that, you have such an
extraordinary opportunity to reach them successfully.
If you don’t know who you are, if you don’t know what drives you,
nothing else matters. You can be doing all the right things, but
the likelihood of staying on a plan that you are not excited about,
have doubts about, or is not in alignment with what is important to
you…is not likely to be a plan that will last.
We mostly think about technique and process. But if your plan is
not giving you fulfillment, you won’t stay with it. Ask yourself,
how can I align what is truly important to me with what I want to
manifest?
They say if you pick the right plan the rest will follow… but right
for who? Not all people are the same, what works for one person
might not be the right plan for you.
You can walk, take a bus, take a plane, you can run, you can take a
train they will all get you there. Find what works for you and what
you enjoy doing, and stay with the plan. Don’t try to do them all.
If your plan is to eat healthy to feel better, reach your goal body
weight, but going out drinking and eating pizza with your friends
is a priority, your goal is not in alignment with your life.
If you value the time with your family as well as exercising
regularly to stay fit, then how can you carve that time to allow
for both, without sacrificing one or the other?
Your system is a daily method of operation. Is yours working? Are
you getting the results?
