In recent weeks I have experienced some discomfort mostly due to loss of flexibility and stress from working too many hours at a computer. Lauren has been my trainer and coach for a number of years and has been helpful providing me useful tools to help me keep in shape with less pain. One of the best tools has been the "stretching exercises e-book" with easy to follow exercises and good visuals that are helping strengthen the affected muscles. I use the plan every morning and occasionally again in the evening. I am so happy to have the booklet, along with Lauren's guidance and coaching, which have enabled me to continue to keep moving without using medication.

Why do so many of us who want to be healthy, who want to eat right, who want to be at our ideal weight never get there?
Speaking for myself it always came down to not being sure what any of that really meant let alone how to get there.
What is “eating right”? (starchy carbs, fibrous carbs, protein, saturated fat, mono fat yikes!)
What is my ideal weight and how do I achieve it? Then how do I stay there?
What is a realistic weight goal and in what period of time?
Is there a healthy way to have all of this or is the “crash diet” my only hope? After all the crash diet works right? I get thinner….. but I don’t stay thinner.
I exercise for a few days and that feels good…but I don’t stick with it.
I try to buy and prepare “healthier” foods….for a week or two. All of my efforts fail because I lose interest.

I have a customized program and I know I am properly doing each exercise.

Early in 2006, after having bilateral total knee replacements I joined the gym. In order to select a personal trainer, I reviewed a number of resumes. Lauren’s experience with seniors and her formal training caused me to choose her as my trainer. We worked together until she left the gym. My previous habits were to overeat at night and not exercise. I ate a lot out of stress, and used food for comfort and relief. Now, I exercise a minimum of 4 times per week (5-6 days usually), I no longer feel that food has to calm me, I am very positive about how food fuels me and how exercise energizes! I do love it now! I feel I can do anything! I’m not as sluggish. And I’ve also noticed that I don’t eat as much.
The exercise programs Lauren made for me were appropriate. They were very challenging at first especially when I had to “figure” things out, but I did get the hang of it and do not fear weight training any more. I think it’s fun.
I think I have made life-style changes that will last but time will tell. I want to stay on track!
